Love Actually

“Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion’s starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don’t see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it’s not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it’s always there – fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge – they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I’ve got a sneaky feeling you’ll find that love actually is all around.”

“Another page turns on the calendar, April now, not March.

I am spinning the silk threads of my story, weaving the fabric of my world…I spun out of control. Eating was hard. Breathing was hard. Living was hardest.

I wanted to swallow the bitter seeds of forgetfulness…Somehow, I dragged myself out of the dark and asked for help.

I spin and weave and knit my words and visions until a life starts to take shape.

There is no magic cure, no making it all go away forever. There are only small steps upward; an easier day, an unexpected laugh, a mirror that doesn’t matter anymore.

I am thawing.”

The Item of The Week

This week, and the first week after the relaunch of Bitz and Pieces Boutique, I am excited to announce our Item of the Week! This item is soft, and silky. It is pink, and black and has my favorite animal on it!!! Yes, this weeks item of the week, is The Winston. Named after a very special grey cat who stole my heart last year, this beautiful silk like fashion scarf stole my heart when it came into my life( and inventory) this season. This scarf can be worn many different ways, I have demonstrated some of them  in the blog today. It is a fashion scarf, so it is multi-seasonal, and its timeless adorable pattern and mute, feminine colors will not go out of style anytime soon, plus will work for many different skin tones.

the joys of dog ownership.

Don’t worry, I am not going to attempt to recreate a “Marley and Me” blog. I love that book, and movie, and I am not that entertaining. So we got a puppy. She is adorable. We found her on Kijiji, and when I say “we” I actually mean “me”. When we arrived at the farm where she was living, she appeared very scared, unsure and flightly. She was living under a porch, there had been other puppies there, but they had been sold already. This little girl was the last one left. Between my love of all things cuddly, the rude and strange farmer who kept saying we should ” take her off his hands”, the 12 year old boy screaming and chasing her around shoving a toy in her mouth, and the fact that cold weather was fast approaching, I gave the man the money and put the little pup in our truck. We din’t even have a leash….so we made our way to PetSmart and purchased the perfect puppy starter kit. When we got home we bathed her ( she was caked in mud) and helped set up our little house for life with a 8 week old labrador /newfoundland cross puppy. Sufficed to say it has been a live and learn process, with many casualties!! Including my favourite purple glasses. I decided to reopen Bitz and Pieces, and am now working from home getting it set up and organized. Perfect for raising a little pup! She has now after three weeks learned that the crate is a fun and happy place, and that outside is where you pee. She also has learned to eat her food, and that treats are fun and yummy, and that toys are for playing. She has learned that she isn’t allowed to chase the cats, and that they don’t find her as much fun as she finds them. She has learned that when we leave the house, we are in fact coming back. She has learned how to sit, stay, come and heal. She no longer runs back to the house when taken off the leash, out of fear we are going to just leave her somewhere. She is a baby. She is learning that she is safe, loved and home. She is such a blessing. Animals come into our lives sometimes by accident, coincidence, or random circumstance. Each of my animals has been a “surprise”, and they have all moulded perfectly into my family and into my heart. I would never purchase an animal from a pet store, when there are so many wonderful furry friends available to move into your home and your heart. It takes a little extra time, and a little extra patience when working with a rescue, but it is so worth it!!! Our little girls name is Winter. She likes swimming, she loves the beach, she likes peanut butter, playing tug and running outside. She loves her ball, she likes the truck more than my car, she likes cookies, and her crate. She is our little girl, and we are so grateful to have her. Do you have pets? How/where did you get them? Share some of your life with me!! 🙂 Much love xoxo
